John S. Newsome

John Newsome is Principal & a founder of Stanford Management Group, Inc and SMG Property Management, Inc. Since 1988 John has overseen acquisitions and sales development, including raw industrial and residential lands, multi-family, office buildings and shopping centers. In addition, John has created and fostered pillars of core values, keen business strategies, and strong team building. These pillars have allowed SMG and Stanford Management to grow to a company that prides itself on excellent customer service as well as a company that attracts and retains strong career oriented team members. 

 

Johns background includes over 25 years of experience with Equitable and Maryland National Bank in Baltimore.  His expertise and experience include heading the National and International lending areas, the formation of Cash Management Services, and heading all commercial bank operations.

John received his bachelors degree in Business from University of Maryland and his MBA  from Loyola Maryland.
 

John Stewart

Consultant 

Mr. Stewart holds an MBA degree with a specialization in Finance from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Widener University where he received admission into Tau Beta Pi, the engineering Honor Society. He is also a graduate of the inaugural class of Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate (AMPD) at the Harvard School of Design. Mr. Stewart’s experience includes over 15 years at SIP’s predecessor company, Minshall Stewart Properties. During his time at the company, Mr. Stewart was principally involved with the acquisition of over 4.0 million square feet of commercial space and arranged and closed over $725 million of debt and equity financing's. Transaction experience during this time included the off-market acquisition and strategic implementation of over $500 million of successfully redeveloped office buildings in downtown Washington DC.

Mr. Stewart is responsible for the overall strategic vision of the Company, developing and implementing its investment strategies, as well as both cultivating and maintaining its important relationships with institutional debt and equity capital providers.

Mike Simmons

Consultant

 

Mr. Simmons is a graduate of Michigan State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.Mr. Simmons has executed investments across various strategies, investment structures, property types, and geographic markets and has successfully closed over 70 assets, encompassing approximately 11.3 M square feet of commercial space, 3,500 residential units, and nearly $2B in investment activity. 

Mr. Simmons has been actively involved in the acquisition and management of institutional quality real estate for 20 years, including nearly 16 years with Heitman, a $40B real estate investment manager, where he was responsible for identifying, underwriting, and closing on direct equity investments for the firm’s commingled investment funds and institutional separate account clients. Mr. Simmons is responsible for identifying and executing the firm’s investment strategies, raising debt and equity capital, and overseeing asset management duties across the portfolio.

George Flynn

President

 

George Flynn is the President of SMG Property Management & Stanford Management Group and leads the company's investment management sector including investor relations  and acquisitions. Mr. Flynn also oversees portfolio and asset management for the company. The acquisition investment focus covers the entire South East United States & parts of the Mid West. 

Prior to joining SMG, Mr. Flynn received his BSBA degree from University of Denver and then went on work for Wells Fargo in commercial real estate and banking for over three decades. Throughout his career at Wells Fargo, Mr. Flynn originated and closed over $1B in multi-family, retail & office/industrial transactions. 

Through his transition to SMG, Mr. Flynn remains active in several real estate trade organizations. 

Nicole Jackson

Vice President

 

Mrs. Jackson is the Vice President of SMG Property Management & Stanford Management Group. With more than 25 years of industry experience, she has overseen numerous areas of operation including training and development, revenue and expense management, onsite management and acquisitions. She has continuously placed a focus on innovative approaches to the company's policies and procedures to keep them in line with the ever advancing age of technology, while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations.

Since joining SMG in 2008, Ms. Jackson has been responsible for various projects and played a vital role in the training of the current senior management team. 

Pamela Pomeroy

Director of Human Resources

 

Ms. Pomeroy joined SMG in June of 2018, bringing with her, over a decades worth of experience in Administrative and Management roles covering a range of different industries. In her position,

Ms. Pomeroy is tasked with overseeing HR systems and benefit plans, handling employee relations, and assessing staffing needs across SMG's entire portfolio. This includes, attracting top talent, overseeing the hiring process of new employees,  on boarding new hires, leading training programs and ensuring compliance of all employees with applicable regulations.

She studied Accounting at Florida State University and utilizes her background in finance accompanied by her experience in Human Capital Management to  provide risk mitigation, compliance assurance, as well as an efficient on-boarding and training process for SMG employees.

Jacqueline Willsey
Director of Marketing

Ms. Willsey's addition to SMG, comes with a collection of experience in both management and marketing roles for various Fortune 500 companies in the greater New York City area. Her collective experience in similar roles across various industries, brings fresh perspective and profession specific skills to the SMG team. In her role leading the portfolio's marketing operations,  Ms. Willsey is responsible for the development and direction of SMG’s marketing strategy, online advertising and social media presence. This includes reputation management, brand management and content creation for each of the communities in SMG's portfolio. 

She holds her B.S in Management and Marketing from Fairfield University, and utilizes her background in both professions to drive the focus of SMG’s marketing strategy in a progressive and profitable manner.

William E. Keen III

Controller

Mr. Keen has over 35 years of experience in the financial and accounting fields holding leadership, analyst, and controller positions. He is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of SMG Property Management including monitoring daily accounting records, internal and external financial reporting, and cash management.

Mr. Keen recently joined our team bringing his intimate knowledge of real estate property management and has extensive experience in banking relationships.

Mr. Keen received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from Penn State University, University Park, Pennsylvania.

Deborah Fox
Senior Accountant

Mrs. Fox graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelors degree in Accounting and holds over 31 years of experience in the accounting field. She joined SMG Property Management  over half a decade ago and heads the accounting department under the supervision of our Controller. Mrs. Fox's attention to detail and dedication provides SMG with assurance that all Accounting matters will be addressed efficiently and effectively.

Vince Grote

Regional Property Manager

 

Mr. Grote is Regional Property Manager to the properties in Gainesville, Jacksonville and Palatka, FL, in addition to overseeing our Maintenance Program and Inspections at all SMG properties.

Mr. Grote’s career in residential property management began in 1999 when he was honorably discharged from the Air Force and started work as a Maintenance Technician.  Since then, he has held many positions in the industry and received several awards for his work in property management. Mr. Grote's expertise in physical plant inspections and strong ability to negotiate contracts, provides a valuable asset to our company. He saves us money and found creative ways to provide our residents with the most up to date features in their homes. 

Sonya Musel

Regional Property Manager

Mrs. Musel is  a Regional Property Manager for  properties in Ohio and Michigan. Prior to her role as a Regional Property Manager, overseeing the operations and management of various properties, Mrs. Musel managed The Links Apartments in Ohio since 2007. She has been working in residential property management since 1994 and holds two and half decades worth of knowledge and expertise in the industry. In her role, Mrs. Musel is responsible for creating budgets, assisting with renovation projects, and overseeing day-to-day activities and responsibilities of property staff. With Mrs. Musel's "hands on" approach, she provides her teams with excellent training tools and resources to exceed and maximize property performance. 

Jane Rhody

Regional Property Manager

Mrs. Rhody is  a Regional Property Manager for  properties in Michigan, Virginia, and West Virginia. Prior to her role as a Regional Property Manager, overseeing the operations and management of various properties, Mrs. Rhody had also managed Westmoore and Aspen Grove Apartments in Michigan since 2011. She has been working in residential property management since 1996. In her role, Mrs. Rhody is responsible for creating budgets, assisting with renovation projects, and overseeing day-to-day activities and responsibilities of the properties and staff. Mrs. Rhody's record of turning a distressed property around making it profitable is remarkable.  

Nicole Sharp
Regional Property Manager

Mrs. Sharp is a Regional Property Manager for  properties in Mississippi, Tennessee and South Carolina. She has been working in residential property management since 2007. Mrs. Sharp has successfully lead managed projects such as new construction lease ups and full rehab transitioning. She is very versed in sales-oriented leasing at a high volume and exceptional customer service. 


In her current role as a regional manager, Mrs. Sharp oversees the properties most recently acquired  by SMG. While she is one of SMG's newer team members, her ability to transition into SMG structures and programs was stellar and she she now shares her knowledge on that with new acquisitions and team members. 

Kelly Williams

Software Support Specialist

 

Ms. Williams is responsible for managing the software  systems for the entire portfolio. She started working for SMG in 2003. Over the past decade and a half, Ms. Williams has held various roles within the company, from leasing to being a multi-site manager. In her current role, she is responsible for the training of employees, implementation of software for new acquisitions and ensuring the software  works to the benefit of our on site managers. In addition to coordinating efforts with other departments and staff members  to resolve issues quickly, Ms. Williams also performs root cause analysis to determine the basis of issues and how to best resolve them.
